Screen or hinges

Hey everyone...I've got an Inspiron N4010 who's screen freezes due to the way the screen is opened. I have to manually move it to a certain spot for it to unfreeze the screen and if I let it go, poof...Frozen. Instead of just trying to randomly replace parts I'd like some advice please.

Hi RWeldon,

It is possible that the wiring harness for the screen has become entangled in the hinge causing a pinch in the wires.  You can re-route the cable into the channel where it belongs to resolve this issue.

Took it completely apart today and examined for that. I thought that might be the issue but after reassembly it did the exact same thing. I'm going to replace the screen and see if that helps. Thanks for responding Robert.

You're welcome.  If you're still under warranty, please contact Tech Support for troubleshooting and resolution.  If your warranty has run out, you can find parts from Dell Spare parts, parts-people.com, or Discount Electronics.  Good Luck!
