Sign-in problems

I recently purchased a Dell Inspiron 11, 3000 series 2-in-1 laptop running windows 8.1.  Here is my problem:

When I boot up the laptop, I get a screen that says "Other User,"  and then says "the name or password is incorrect. Try again." However, there is no other user and I cannot figure out how fix this.

If I click "OK" I get a new screen but it has my wife's name in the "Other User" box and asks for a password. This time it adds the sign-in options: local or domain account password or Microsoft account.

If I then click on the 'back arrow' I get two images, my name and 'other.'  Clicking on my image brings up the field which allows me to sign in with my PIN.

How do I get rid of the "other" user or at least get the laptop to boot to my sign on?  Any help/suggestions would be appreciated.
