Smart Switch software

I have a Samsung Galaxy S7 smart phone.  Before the phone undergoes a factory reset, I need to download my contacts, pictures and videos to my laptop.  To download I need to use Smart Switch software.  I am either unable to download the Smart Switch software or can download it but can't execute it.  I think I was able to download Smart Switch.  When I try to run it I get the message "The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect.  Please see the application event log or use the command-line sxstrace.exe tool for more detail."  After 3 1/2 hours with the company I bought my phone from (CREDO), CREDO was unable to correct the problem and advised me to look elsewhere for assistance since, according to CREDO, it is a laptop problem.  Hence, this email to you.  My laptop is a Dell Inspiron 5559 bought in May 2016.  Here's more laptop information:
