Studio 15 8-in-1 media card reader

I just purchased a Studio 15 laptop and it has a media card reader.  How do you use it?  I have a memory stick duo pro, I finally got it in by using the plastic blank to push it far enough in, but then couldn't get it out.  Does anyone know how to tell an untechnical person what I'm doing wrong.  Thanks.
