Studio 15: Mobile Core i5/i7 options...
Hi,
I'm about to buy a Studio 15 machine, but the variety of mobile core i processors has me very confused! Are the mobile i7 processors better than the mobile i5? I've read that they are older, but the Dell website also shows that they have slower GHz, which is strange! There's just £20 between an i5-540M and an i7-720QM - which is better? These are probably the two that I'd choose between.
The laptop will be for basic use, email/web/documents, but also blu ray playing and outputting video via hdmi. If you're able to work out which I'd find most suitable given my circumstances then I'd really appreciate it!

Yes, the i7 is a more capable CPU than the i5 - and yes, the clock speeds on the i processors are lower than those on the outgoing Core 2.

Ah, thank you - that's good to know!
Just to double check, the i5 has almost 1Ghz higher clock speed than the i7 - does that make much difference? Neither are the outgoing Core 2 from what I can gather...
