Studio 15 case gets too hot

Just bought a Studio 15. The casing where I rest my hands gets very hot. Do you have a solution, or a suggestion of a better model to buy?

Get an infrared thermometer and measure the temperatures at various spots. Temps in the 90-100°F are not abnormal. If too high, call Dell for a replacement if you have had it less than 3 weeks (from time of shipping). If you have had it longer, call for a repair. Go to the dell diagnostics (F12 at the Dell boot screen) and do the fan test. If the fan is bad, it will be replaced. If it's OK, you may have a problem woth a poorly installed CPU/GPU heat pipe - possibly incorrectly applied thermal transfer compound or pads.

I have bought a Vostro 1520 and I noticed the same thing.

It gets very hot on the left of the touchpad (I do not know what lays beneath: CPU is beneath

the keyboard, and HD is on the right of the pad).

What did you finally do?

Have you had it repaired/changed (so that you got your problem solved),

or it is a matter of bad engineering?
