Studio 1555 Backlit UK Keyboard Part No
Hi Everyone
Im in need of a part number for a UK layout backlit keyboard for my new Dell 1555, as i bought this from the outlet i did not get a choice in buying the backlit keyboard and i could really do with one. I have looked on ebay and the only ones i can see are the US layout and i need a UK one.
Many thanks
Doughy
Edit: I have one now, the part number is C572K

I have tried searching on C572K and no results show the 1555 keyboard with this part number, only the 1535 and others.
A number of blogs also give the C572K part number, but I suspect they might simply be feeding off each other. There does seem to be some confusion and wrong information around this item's part number.
I have yet to find the actual part number for the Studio 1555 backlit UK keyboard. I have tried a 1535 keyboard, but the function key markings are different to the 1555 and I could not get it to switch the backlight on and off (it is F6 on the 1555, but Fn right arrow on the 1535 which may be why).
If anyone has successfully found and tried a backlit UK 1555 keyboard I would be interested to know how to do the same.

I looked in our parts database and the UK-English backlit keyboard is listed as: C572K
In my signature is a link to "Parts for your Dell". I'm honestly not sure if that will work in the UK or not but it does have an analyzer and service tag option that should pull up the parts for your specific system. Try it and see if it works. If it does, great. If not, can't hurt I wouldn't think.

Many thanks for this. I now believe that the C572K part number is for both the 1555 and the 1557 keyboard. What has confused me is that some adverts say the C572K part number is for the 1535 (it is not) and the 1557 keyboard, but do not even mention the 1555.
I have tried using this part number search on Dell's sites, but the C572K number produces no hits. I think this is because on another blog it says that you cannot get service and repair parts online from Dell, only accessories. Apparently you need to phone to get service and repair parts - which a replacement keyboard would be.
Strangely, today I got a telephone call from a Dell representative about a comment I made on the Dell customer review pages. I gave the Studio 1555 a generally low rating because of some of its design faults (no indicators for Caps Lock, Wireless or HDD activity for example). I also complained that the DVD drive was slot loading with no option for tray loading, and that this meant mini CDs (e.g. like some drivers come on) would not work. He rang to discuss this 'DVD fault' - which it was not. I explained what I meant and he went away for a while, came back and agreed it was not possible to use mini CDs - which I already knew! Anyway, he asked if there was anything else he could do. I said I wanted to fit a backlit keyboard for the 1555 and I had seen that some people had got Dell to do this. He assured me this does not happen and that Dell do not supply the keyboard, or the option for Dell to fit one. I know he is wrong.
One thing I would say is that the cheap backlit replacement keyboards from China (e.g. on ebay) do work and look fine, but the key action is more spongey than the original Dell keyboard.

Hi,
Yes, that part number is taken from our warranty parts supply and probably isn't the correct part number for external sales. Sometimes they are, other times they're not. You can get parts from Dell. You would need to check the UK support pages at http://support.Dell.com to get the phone number / contact information for the parts purchasing department. I used to have the phone number for the US team that handles those sales but I don't have it any more.
No idea who that was that you spoke to. Who knows, maybe we've closed our parts sales department and I'm not aware of it. I don't work in, or with, and of the sales teams so I wouldn't be notified if we do.
