Re: Stuttering/Buzzing Sound During Audio/Video Playback

Thank you Mick!  I'm just happy I found this forum and thread, everyone is extremely helpful.  I'd prefer to have the updated driver, but just not having that buzz noise and stutter is great.  I'll be more careful with Windows Update downloads.  I can't remember if the update that caused this was a recommended or optional one.  I'd still like to be able to unzip files too.

Lindy52,

7Zip (google it) offers a 32bit and 64bit zip, rar, plus tons others, it is totally free and does a perfect job in extracting Anything you Encounter. I have been helping others, getting ready to open a Shop Actually, and then start charging for repairs and jobs, but this way I build a Nice "Cyber" Reference List of Happy Customers and it is a Compelling thing to have starting a PC Repair Shop/ Internet Support/Help Desk. I Love to do it, I have help people from Canada to Melbourne, Australia, and even have Restored a XP Operating System from Scratch with TeamViewer and a Cell Phone. Loved the Work, and Here to Help, and jimco, he is a Very Intelligent Man that loves the PC and What it Contains, and a Very Helpful Man to have. So are others that have been on here, it can get done quicker here then through Dell Support, lol..

Thanks,

Mick Barker Sr.

I have the same problem on my XPS 15z. It started about couple weeks ago. Dell came and replaced the speakers and sound card. Well, that didn't fix the problem. Twitter Dell support said that I had to unistall the VLC player since it will 'void' my warranty and that is the cause of he problem  Umm..... NO..  I had complained to them about this way before I had installed Win8 then VLC since Win8 no longer has their media player to play my DVDs.

To satisfy the Twitter support, I uninstalled VLC player and guess what?!?!?!  I STILL HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM!  It happens when I'm on wifi, not on wifi, playing a CD, playing a DVD, youtube, streaming music, movies EVERYTHING that has audio and/or video.

What is the problem? It's not my wireless router because I use wifi on my phone and it works without any hiccups.

TheSKP,  there are some tips from other owners in the Choppy/Skipping Audio FAQ.

Does the noise occur both when plugged in and when running on battery?

Oops, sorry for the delayed reply.  Yes, it occurs when it's plugged in and on battery.  😕   They've replaced even the palm rest because the technician bent the it trying to open it. Now Twitter Dell support is saying that I need to have my laptop taken into the depot since the technicans can't solve it.

The last technician that came said that it could be the connectors/ motherboard. I'm just frustated at this point.  Please help.

I did that. I even uninstalled programs that came with the laptop like Cozi, Ebay and even the Dell support.   I've told to take my laptop to the depot  even when I have on-site service. I just don't like that idea.   Other option is to completely reinstall to factory settings.   I have updated the Intel WiFi and graphics drivers.   Why isn't anyone at Dell find a fix to this issue that everyone else seems to be experiencing.

I've owned Latitudes for 10 years and never experience such problems like the XPS 15z.  The laptop is nice but kind of regret not purchasing my usual Latitude.

Just a reminder to new posters in this thread that it is about the Dell Inspiron 1545 model. The original poster's question was answered and is on page 3 of this thread.

Why isn't anyone at Dell find a fix to this issue that everyone else seems to be experiencing.

The solution has been found for the poster who began this thread and it has worked for dozens of other Inspiron 1545 owners and also Inspiron 1750 owners. That solution does not work for you because you have a different problem and need a different solution. There are many causes for the symptom of noisy audio and each cause has its own solution -- there is not and never will be "a" fix.

If you want to talk to other XPS 15z owners about the noise issues affecting your model, post in one of the threads devoted to it. A couple of them are

XPS 15z Audio Crackling/Stuttering with network traffic over wireless (Latency Issue)

XPS 15Z Audio issue

There are some others if you hunt for them.
