Touchpad left-click button - thinks both buttons pushed

I have an Inspiron 6000. My left-click button no longer works. When I run diagnostics, it says that both buttons are pushed. Right-click button and touchpad work fine. I've been using an external mouse but would really like to get my buttons working again. Any help appreciated!
