Touchpads
Hi: I don't know what I'm doing here. I haven't done anything like this before. But I'm having problem w/a dell N7010 that is from the mid 2010. The problem is that u can't disable the tapping function, I have try every thing that I can find. This puter is causing me big problem, because I'll be typing and it will be somewhere else or it will go places where I don't want to be, Just because some time back I must have touch the pad and it was gone. So I know that my friend is having the same thing because, they call me and ask if I can fix it again because they don't know where or what has happen. The puter won't come on now. So he brought it over and sure enough it was not working right. But I was able to get it to DOS and some how it had a f drive. We got it back to where it should be. I'm typing on it right now, but its hard because if u tap that touchpad ur gone to somewhere or doing what u don't want to do or be there. Please help me to find out what I can do to it to get that tapping disable PLEASE.

Hello,
The N7010 uses a Synaptic touchpad but I don't think that the tapping function itself can be turned off. You can go into the mouse properties in your system, click on "Device Settings", and adjust some of the sensitivity of the touchpad.
You may also want to check out downloading the drivers from our Dell Support Home pages, or downloading the latest driver from Synaptic to see if that helps you at all.
If you can adjust the sensitivity of the tapping feature that may go a long way towards alleviating the problems you're having with the touchpad.
I hope this helps.
