Trouble Shoot DVD RW Drive in Dell XPS M1530
The DVD RW Drive in my XPS will not accept blank CD-R discs...I have not tried other formats eg. DVD-R. I ran the Dell self-inspection test. All passed except those for this drive. The message reported was 'unsupported'. I reran the same test and obtained the same result.
Do you have any suggestion for futher trouble shooting/repair?

Try a blank DVD-R. If it's recognized OK, it's likely the CD laser has failed - you will need a new drive.
