Unable to boot, blank screen, no beep
Dear all,
I have a Inspiron 1420, when I boot it, HDD led flashes for few seconds and stops. DVD spins. Screen is brightened but still black, no cursor, no beep. I unplugeg the RAM and test on another system, RAM works.
What could be the problem? Empty CMOS? Hard drive or even worse, mainboard? Did someone suffer the same problem?
Help me please!

Seems like the OS crashes during start
Make backups by putting the disk in an external USB drive enclosure on another system, then continue and put it back.
Press F8 straight after BIOS, if you get the boot menu, select safe boot and see were the boot sequence goes sour.
If that doesn't help get the DELL diagnostic CD and test your test
if your system is ok, try to boot from CD/DVD with a widow$ CD.
If widow$ starts from there try to repair the OS from the menu system found on the CD

Thanks for your response, I have tried with the CD and F8, no response at all.
So I guess this is a hardware problem?

Check the BIOS boot sequence if it's set to CD/DVD first
