Unable to play Dvd's on laptop

Jump to solution

Hi,

I've the windows vista basic laptop operating system. When  I first got the laptop, I could play dvd's on them. However last year i'd to get a new hard drive and increase the memory in it. Since then, i've been unable to watch any dvd movies on it or any dvd programme. Do you know why this is?

thanks

Derek

As far as I know "windows vista basic" doesn't come with a free DVD decoder.

Can you access the DVD via Windows explorer? Movie DVD's usually contain at least two folders:

Audio_TS

Video_TS

If you can see these folders or any other folders the DVD drive should be ok and you laptop might be lacking an appropriate software to play Movie DVD's.

VLC or The KM-player are possible solutions - both are freeware
