I don't know if this is a problem with my Inspiron 5720, Windows 8 or Adobe Flash so I wasn't sure where to post. This has been going on since I first started using the laptop out of the box. I have tried contacting Adobe and posted on their forums and gotten no follow up to help with this since mid summer and even then it was a couple of replies. I am at my wits end. If you look this issue up online all the posts found on different sites are from me with no resolution. I've reinstalled Win 8 and now even upgrading to 8.1 didn't change anything. Here's what I've posted about this issue elsewhere online but revised somewhat since 8.1 came out. I haven't been able to find a solution and have done just about every advised thing I could find on Adobe's site/forums suggested by Adobe employees to other people with similar issues. I just want help to get this resolved.
I have Windows 8 and am trying to see streams broadcast on Justin.tv using any browser besides Chrome. I can view streams on JTV using Chrome when I have it's built-in flash player going but if I try to use the one I downloaded it doesn't work and gives me the same issues as Firefox 25 and IE 10 which are a black screen for the stream and a constant loading circle for chat. After a good bit of googling I found out that to see streams on Justin.tv you have to have 3rd party cookies option enabled in flash. When I try to do this with the online settings manager it won't allow me to check to accept 3rd party cookies. Nothing else I've tried has worked such as downgrading browsers in FF's case and trying the current flash version and the beta one. Older versions of flash outside of IE just tell me I need to upgrade.
I've cleaned the cache so many times. The box is not clickable at all. It lights up when I put my arrow over it but it won't allow it to be checked. Also, when I try to change storage settings those settings don't take either.
I've used the uninstaller that's downloadable off of Adobe's site, restarted my computer and tried downloading the most recent Flash version again. I still can't click on these boxes and the changes for storage don't get saved when trying to do so when using Firefox or IE.
I don't know what to do with IE 10 since I have Win 8 and flash is integrated as it is with Chrome. Funny thing is as I mentioned before the only way I can watch Justin.tv feeds is with Chrome and using it's integrated Flash.
Any help trying to resolve this is greatly appreciated.
Chrome 31.0.1650.26 beta-m
I did. It's because I can't put a check mark in the box to accept 3rd party cookies. Hence why I have tried getting help from Adobe, Microsoft, Dell and other tech forums online.
I tried using a guest account tonight and the flash worked fine. So I'm trying to figure out what the difference between the two accounts could be which still has me stumped. It's not just Justin.tv it affects it does so on sites like Veetle, iLive and HBO.com.
