Unknown Driver ACPI VEN_SMB&DEV_0001

Greetings!

I am not sure if this question goes here, but I didn't find any forums dedicated to softwares in laptops. My apologies in advance!

I recently purchased this second-hand Dell laptop. I was told it was upgraded from windows 8 to windows 10, and so far everything's worked fine! But while checking the device manager, I noticed it has this unknown driver installed and I haven't been able to figure out what it is or get it fixed.

Here's a screenshot:

Does anyone know where can I download this specific driver? I tried Dell's auto-detect-tool but it didn't work/ detect this one driver.

Thanks in advance!

Looks like it's a Synaptics touchpad driver -- it's hard to advise without knowing what model system you have.

This is likely for the SMBus and is either included in the chip set driver or possibly the GPU driver for the model of your notebook.  Please reply with the model of the notebook and the version of Windows installed and I will be happy to look for specific drivers.

Press [Windows] and [ r ] and type in msinfo32 and press [Enter]. What is the system model and BIOS version/date?

First I advise getting the latest UEFI BIOS Update A05:

http://downloads.dell.com/FOLDER01766191M/1/5535A05.exe

Then clean installing with up to date Windows 10 Installation Media i.e. installing Windows 10 TH2 Pro (build 10586) instead of Windows 10 TH1 Pro (build 10240):

http://dellwindowsreinstallationguide.com/download-microsoft-windows-and-office/download-microsoft-windows/download-windows-10-oem-and-retail-iso/

The unknown device may be the airplane switch. You'll have to take the Windows 8.1 driver if Windows 10 TH2 Windows Update doesn't find the driver:

Since this is an AMD system, the video driver may save you from reinstalling windows if you have failed to install it previously. Double checking there are no chip-set driver listed for Windows 10

Updating the BIOS as Natakuc4 suggested is a great idea as well.

A same problem . Resolve after installing Synaptics touchpad driver . You need to install or update "PS/2 Compatible Mouse" driver .
