Very Loud Fan on Inspiron 15R 5520

Hi,

I just yesterday noticed a very loud sound (I'm assuming it's a fan) coming from the top left of my Inspiron 15R 5520. Whenever I shut down the computer and restart it, the fan goes off for approx. 20 min and then starts back up again (the sound is very loud and annoying).  I have tried blasting the vents with compressed air as well as downloading new BIOS firmware to no avail. Any idea what I should do? Thanks

You may need to replace the fan if it is making excessive noise.

Ok, thanks. How urgent is this situation? The fan noise has not gotten any worse.

If your fan is making excessive noise, and wears out, and does not function then the computer will over heat and will not boot.
