Vista Basic displays too large for laptop screen

The displays on my laptop running vista Basic are often too large to access funtion buttons or navigate entire screen any Ideas on sttings I may have missed?

Right click on an open area on you desktop. Left click on personalize. Click on display settings and there you have a resolution slide bar in which you can adjust the resolution. If the resolution is not to your satisfaction you may need to reload the video driver for your computer.

right click on an open area of the desktop. select Personalize, then display setting in the pop up window. set the resolution of the laptop
