Vostro 1510 upgrade memory problem
Hi.
Some day ago I bought Transcend 4 GB (2x2GB) SO-DIMM DDR2 667 MHz (JM667QSU-4GK) to upgrade my Vostro 1510.
I did it in such followings:
1. Extracted old 2GB RAM from bank.
2. Inserted new memory to the banks.
3. Turn on computer. It boot up and worked for 2-3 minutes and then freeze.
4. After i rebooted the display was black and Lock leds were blinking strange. Num Lock fast blinking, Scroll and Caps Lock where solid green.
5. Computer didn't boot up.
Old memory work good in both banks (i've checked it by BIOS Diagnostic tool (by F12 in BIOS) and by Memory test (Ubuntu Live CD).
New memory passes Memory test (Ubuntu Live CD) on other notebook (Asus Z99HE). But with Parrameters (DDRII 443, 4-4-4-12).
On Vostro 1510 it is testing with parameters (DDRII 665, 5-5-5-15), but don't pass it.
Question: What can I do to install new memory into my Vostro 1510? What does it mean blinking by Num Lock?

The RAM may not be compatible. Teanscend's web site indicates RAM compatible with your Vostro shoud have a part number starting with TS. Much lower cost "Value RAM" will not work in some PCs. RAM with timings of 4-4-4 are not usually compatible with current Dell laptops.
