Vostro 3550 & Windows 8

Hi All

I'm tired to try to install drivers for my AMD radeon vídeo card (catalyst), the old mobility center which I used to have a place to switch off my touch pad, and course my byometric reader.

Does anyone had successfully installed these softwares?

Why I can't run any installer (I receive an error box)

Help me please

:-)

Many thanks

Hi,

You can install the following drivers on your computer to resolve this issue:

  1. Dell Quickset: http://dell.to/TA8OtT
  2. Touchpad driver: http://dell.to/VIMknW
  3. Validity Sensor: http://dell.to/Si4Y4Z
  4. ST Microelectronics Accelerometer: http://dell.to/Si54d6

Steps to download drivers:-

  • Click 'Download file' to download the list to a folder you will designate.
  • Click 'Save'. Then designate the folder you would like to save the files to.
  • Once you have designated the folder you would like to save your files to, Click 'OK'.
  • Selected downloads will automatically start downloading. Next is Installation.
  • To start installation, Click Open folder. Right-click a downloaded file and select the option to ‘Run as administrator’.
  • A small window will appear with 'Continue' and 'Exit' buttons, click 'Continue'.
  • In the Select the folder where you want to unzip the files to window, click OK.
  • If a message appears asking to create a folder, click 'Yes'. If a message appears asking to overwrite the folder, click 'Yes to All'.
  • In the All files were successfully unzipped window, click OK.
  • A new window will appear, follow the prompts that appear to finish the installation.
  • Restart your computer.

To install the correct video driver for your computer, you need to check the video card installed on your computer from Device manager.

Steps to check and download video drivers:
  • Click on “Start” and right click on “Computer”.
  • Click on “Manage”.
  • Click on “Device Manager”.
  • Under “Display adapters”, you will find the video driver listed.
  • Right click on it and click on “uninstall”. (Check and make a note of the driver installed on your system and re-install the driver from the below steps accordingly).
  • Check the box to delete the software.
  • Restart your system.

If your computer had Radeon HD 7450M or Radeon HD 7650M video card, you can download and install driver from: http://dell.to/XizzWD

In case your computer has Radeon HD 6630, you can download the driver for that from link: http://dell.to/PCwzkp

Please reply for further clarifications.

Hi

My notebook is in the same situation. Do you know when Dell will support Vostro 3550 model with all the drivers/applications?

Hi,

All these drivers are compatible with Windows 8. As an example, images are shown below:

(click on images for enlarged view)

When you select system model, you will get the drivers for Windows 8 for your computer.

Please let me know in case you are facing issues with any specific driver for your computer. I will find the best possible resolution.

You can try installing the drivers given above. For video drivers, if you still face issues after updating the video drivers from the support website, you can install the driver for your computer from manufacturer's website. Here's the link: http://bit.ly/SMb3JV

You can select the options from the drop down menu relevant to the graphics card installed on your computer. If you are not sure about the card installed, you can check it in Device Manager or choose the option for 'Auto detect and install'.

Please reply with the findings.

To get the fingerprint reader to work, you need both the DRIVER and the APPLICATION.

That will get you the updated driver for Windows 8

This will get you the fingerprint application en.community.dell.com/.../20008614.aspx.  Works for me!
