What inverter should I get for the LCD screen for my Dell Inspiron 6400/E1505?

Hi,

The 15.4 inch screen for my Dell Inspiron 6400/E1505 went dark so I would like to replace the inverter. I took the screen apart and removed the inverter. I surfed the web and found an identical inverter (I think) for sale on the following website. http://www.lcdparts.net/LI3D.aspx

However, the aforementioned website lists the inverter for a Dell 640M with a 14.1 inch screen. The website lists an inverter for a Dell Inspiron 6400/E1505 15.4 inch with a different make and product number. How do I know what type of inverter board I should get?

The inverter board I removed from the laptop has the following numbers on it:

IV12139/T B

B-IV12139T/B9 LF

IV12139/T-LF

Hi, I have a Dell Inspiron 6400/E1505 and I would like to replace the inverter board, that came with the computer, in the screen. I took the laptop apart and removed the bad inverter board. I searched the product the number of the inverter board online and I learned that the inverter board is for a Dell 14.1 inch screen, however, the screen that the inverter board came out of is a 15.4 inch screen. I'm not sure what kind of inverter I should get.

You need exactly what you have now.  It may in fact work with bulbs in both 14" and 15" screens.

Oh, I see. CCFL is the backlight. Yeah, I considered the backlight being the problem too, but after researching the issue online, I've come to the conclusion that a bad inverter is the most common cause. Since it's easier to change, I figured it's the best place to start.

I didn't know of the CFL tube until now. What if the CFL tube isn't the problem? After researching the issue online it seems as though the inverter is the most common problem and since it's the easiest to change and inexpensive I figured I'd start there.

Do you know of a reputable place where I can buy this inverter?

CCFL tubes can be as little as $9.  The labor to install them can be over $100

How do I know if I'm getting the correct one? Which number should I go by?

replacing the inverter will not help a bad cfl tube become brighter.

I realize this is an old thread, but I am having the same problem with my 1505 display. I have found that it works fine on battery, but goes dark as soon as I plug in the power cord.

I was hoping SpeedStep would have a reply for this..

It sounds to me like an Inverter as the backlight works fine on battery and max brightness.

Anyone agree... or disagree.

Thanks in advance.
