When will the XPS M1730 fully support Windows 7?

I've browsed various forums and not seen a confirmed answer from our friends at Dell.  The M1730 is MORE than capable of running Windows 7 - I currently have Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit RTM installed.  Everything seems to work well for the most part, although I do experience video driver crashes from time-to-time.  They tend to occur when I'm playing World of Warcraft (not the most graphically intense application out there).  Searching the internets yielded no solid results, but I suspect it may be a heat issue.  That leads me to believe that this is the reason the M1730 is NOT currently on the Windows 7 supported hardware list, but I'd like to know specifically why and if/when we will see Windows 7 drivers and support from Dell.

Video drivers are the latest and greatest from Nvidia at the time of this posting and all other drivers are either Windows 7 native or Windows 7 drivers from the manufacturer.

Windows Advisor states that the M1730 fully supports Windows 7, why doesn't Dell?

My system information is (from DXDiag):

This seems like an issue maybe Dell can help with. Windows comes with an extractor so I don't know what causes this. My internet is too slow for me to test it from here, but I am sure this is a minor problem.

it is 6mb large, so if you send me an email address it might be easier than a website. I can send it in zip or RAR file.

I just purchased a brand new factory sealed dell XPS M1730 laptop battery, am waiting for it to be delivered. Am yet to get a working Dell Quickset and bluetooth application that actually works, can anyone help?

@Aeromaster can you compress your own Quick set & bluetooth software found in your c:\ partion in your dell folder with winrar  or similar application and upload it on file sharing server like 4hsared website for me to download and install?

Thanks for the help so far...

It's possible, but you will have to provide me with the link. I don't have an account or anything like that. I am actually in Afghanistan and the net is poor, but I'll give it a try. I have saved most of those to the back disk, so I won't have to come off of the C drive. Send an upload link.

Someone is also advertising a driver disk on eBay with your drivers, but I think they are generic type drivers, meaning the disk is intended for more than one model.

Well, glad to hear you were able to download from Dell. Like I said, once you install the BT it should be updated by the Windows update sooner or later. I bought mine new in Nov 2008. The next year Dell discontinued it. I bought none of those Driver Update progams and got some later drivers other than WIndows for some applications. It's a good tool.

I don't know why but Dell also discontinued the use of the monitor offered with the M1730. There are plently of spare parts on eBay. Have a good time with your M1730.

The problem am having is my windows 7 ultimate was not installed with a genuine product key, so after the first 2 major updates I turned off windows updates to avoid Microsoft detecting am using a non genuine product key. Can you help with windows 7 64bit genuine product key to receive updates from Microsoft or a workaround?

The only solution I know of is to buy a key for that copy you have installed. There should be an option when you try to enter a product key.

Glad to see you are up and running. The M1730 is a pretty good gamer's machine from pre-2009. Have fun.
