Why is my Inspiron 17R terrible?

My Dell Inspiron 17R is terrible.  It constantly crashes and then goes through loops of restarting trying to repair itself.  It often freezes in the middle of working.  Now, today, it decided to not read discs that I put in the drive.  This laptop is finicky and weak.  Do not buy this product until they figure out how to make this a stable laptop.
