Windows 10 Update kills XPS 13 Touchpad Functionality

After updating to Windows 10, the Touchpad on my Dell XPS 13 (L321X) no longer responds to Tap-To-Click actions or Two-Finger scrolling. This is extremely frustrating.

I've tried rolling back the driver to the previous Synaptics driver with no luck.

I've tried uninstalling the Synaptics driver and starting over with the original Cypress driver and rebuilding from there and that hasn't worked.

I've scoured the internet for a solution and there doesn't seem to be one other than waiting for either Dell or Synaptics to address and fix this issue by updating the driver. Please hurry.

Found my own solution.

1. Uninstall the Synaptics 19.0.10.0 driver.

(Control Panel -> Device Manager -> Mice and other pointing devices -> Right click on Synaptics PS/2 Port TouchPad -> Uninstall Driver)

2. Reboot

3. Go to http://dellwindowsreinstallationguide.com/driver-sets/dell-touchpad-drivers/ and download the Cypress Touchpad 5.5.1.59 driver

4. Install the Cypress Touchpad 5.5.1.59 driver

5. Reboot.

6. Enjoy your working Touchpad. Use it to disable automatic updates so Windows / Dell / Synaptics doesn't mess this up in the future.

The driver on that link is not the 5.5.1.509 it is 2.5.1.59A00

That wasn't there yesterday.  I used the one I indicated and it worked fine. Looks like there are more options now.

RE: Windows 10 Update kills XPS 13 Touchpad Functionality

I've had zero issues with my trackpad after Win10 on my XPS 13 9343.  In fact it may even be performing a bit better than it was with 8.1.

RE: Windows 10 Update kills XPS 13 Touchpad Functionality

I have had several issues with my XPS 13 9343 trackpad under Win 8.1; mostly erratic behavior every now and then, sometimes needing a reboot to temporarily get the thing working again. Any such issues with Win 10?

RE: Windows 10 Update kills XPS 13 Touchpad Functionality

Thank you so much for the solution!  I had the same problem with my XPS 13 and it was driving me nuts.  I first tried the "2.5.1.72 Windows 10" Cypress driver that was listed, but it didn't work.  The driver you suggested worked great!

Thanks again for sharing your solution!

Isn't there a Dell moderator looking into this and wondering "Gee, we should be addressing this issue"? The trackpad is the XPS 13 Achille's heel and should be fixed pdq!!!

RE: Windows 10 Update kills XPS 13 Touchpad Functionality

I have an XPS 15z and when I tried to download Windows 10, it would not let me proceed unless I removed Cypress Touchpad.  Didn't know how to do that so I'm stuck.  No help from Dell.

The Cypress Driver Ver. 2.5.1.72 is running just fine on my XPS 13 (L321X) FYI.
