Windows 8 RTM, Latitude E4310 and UEFI
Has anyone tried using Windows 8 RTM on the Latitude range yet? I've recently installed RTM onto an E4310, selecting the UEFI mode rather than traditional BIOS and I'm finding that every time I try to start the laptop after it has been shut down, the boot process stalls and I need to power-cycle it.
I believe that when you shut down Win8, it does a state save in order to make the boot process faster and this is failing, therefore the power-cycle clears that state and forces a normal longer boot.
What I'm not sure about is whether I'm missing one or more drivers that would get this working properly, or if it is my choice of UEFI and I should have stuck with the traditional BIOS.
Hence my question as to whether or not anyone else has tried this.
Thanks.
Philip

It looks like the E4310 UEFI implementation doesn't work properly with Windows 8. Changing the BIOS mode back to Legacy/Traditional and reinstalling Windows 8 results in the machine correctly restarting from a shutdown scenario.

Hi Philip,
Update the BIOS to the latest version from the dell support website. Ideally this should resolve the issue. If the BIOS update does not help, change BIOS mode to Legacy/Traditional and reinstall the Operating System.
Latest BIOS available at Dell support site is A10 and I have provided the link for it below:
http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/DriverDetails/DriverFileFormats/Product/latitude-e4310?DriverId=J9V3P&FileId=2966449652&urlProductCode=False
Please post back with the results.

Hi Philip,
I am glad that changing the BIOS mode to Legacy helped.
If you have any further questions, I will be happy to support.
