Hi Reda Edris,

I would suggest you to run the hardware diagnostics on the system to check for hardware functionality. As you have mentioned that , options are not working, you may run the diagnostics by pressing the + ‘Power’ simultaneously when the system is shut down. This will work only if you are using a laptop. Please share the system model.

You may try refreshing the system. Please follow the steps below:

  • Shut down the computer
  • Power On the system
  • Power Off the system at Dell Logo with “rolling dots” at the bottom of the screen
  • Repeat the above steps 2-3 times
  • Click ‘Troubleshoot’
  • Click ‘Refresh’ to refresh the system

*Note: The apps that came with your PC or you installed from Windows Store will be reinstalled, but any apps you installed from other websites and DVDs will be removed. Windows puts a list of the removed apps on your desktop after refreshing your PC.

Keep me posted with the findings. I will be glad to assist further.

  • You will be prompted to select the backup to be used, click the factory image option or select from one of the backups. Click Next
  • You will be prompted to back up your files, select No, Erase my files

Hi Jabee Gms,

I would suggest you to run hardware diagnostics on the system for hardware functionality, by following the steps below:

  • Reboot and tap 3-4 times to enter the Boot Menu.
  • When the boot device list appears, highlight Diagnostics and press Enter.
  • The computer begins to run the Pre-boot System Assessment, a series of embedded diagnostics that perform initial testing on your system board, keyboard, hard drive, and display.
  • In case any hardware component is bad, you will get a corresponding error.

You may reset system BIOS to default settings. Please follow the steps below:

  • Power on the system and tap at the ‘Dell’ logo
  • Press on the ‘System Setup Utility’ screen and then press
  • Press to ‘Save Changes and Exit’ and press again

Keep me posted with the results. I will be glad to assist you.

I did the hardware diagnostics and system BIOS to default settings, But it didn't resolve problem.

Here i am attaching the test results and boot error code screen which says some \EFI\Microsoft\Boot\BCD is missing or contains error.

I would appreciate a quick reply to this post.

Thank you

Hi Amogh,

Thank you for your response.

No change in the problem. I have the same BIOS settings in place.

Please let me what is the chances of getting the system recovered in this kind of crashes. Its been a week while my laptop is down and i can not afford more down time.

If the recovery chances is less then i will go ahead with some other OS installation for time being.

And please confirm, since i had paid for getting Windows 8 with new laptop can i get the Windows 8 copy or re installation done from Dell ?

Thank you.
