Wireless Mouse incompatibility with USB 3.0 port on new Inspiron 5110

As others have reported on the XPS15, I'm experiencing mouse problems using the USB 3.0 ports on my new Inspiron 5110 laptop.  Mouse seems to lock after a few minutes and is never recognized after reboot, requiring the receiver to be removed and reinserted.  Only after reading the setup guide did I realize that 2 of the 3 USB ports are 3.0, so moving it to the USB 2.0 port solved my problem.

Are there going to be compatibility issues with other USB devices?  Is there anything I can do do downgrade these ports to USB 2.0?  I'd like to change at least one of the remaining two ports to 2.0.  I can appreciate the advantage of the high speed connection, but to me functionality is more important.
