XPS 13 Cypress Touchpad Windows 8
I just upgraded my laptop to Windows 8 Enterprise. Everything went smoothly except for the touchpad. I really liked how it functioned in Windows 7 but it seems that the driver for the Cypress touchpad is not compatible. You must remove it before the upgrade and it cannot be reinstalled once Windows 8 is installed. The touchpad functions but it has significantly less functionality than before. Is there a beta driver for Windows 8 out that I can try?

Hopefully, putting this in a new thread will get more attention from Dell.

What's wrong with the official Dell driver from the website? It supports Windows 8, not all gestures, but it's installable

My response to this post would have been put your request in a new thread then since this is a thread about the XP13 and not the 15z. I see you've done that.

The 15z driver does not yet support Windows 8 and does not install without some workarounds. The XPS 13 driver CAN be installed on a 15z but the only thing that works outside of the gestures is two-fingered scrolling. No two finger right click, four finger swipe up/down or any other gesture. And from what I can tell, the calibration's off as well for using the trackpad as it's a different size/area.
I will say that you are welcome to try the XPS 13 driver on the 15z. It may work just fine for your uses. For me, I expect more from my system.

Was going to do that a while back but I had hoped Dell would eventually get around to updating this driver before the official Windows 8 release date! Asi es la vida.

Might have found an easier solution:
Go to folder C:\Drivers\Touchpad_Cypr\Cypress and click on CyHidMSI.
Did not even need to restart the PC. Mind, for those who are upgrading to Windows 8, it may be that this only works if you opted to save all your previous files...

May I ask, how significant the trackpad issues are? I only use it to move the pointer and tap to click.

I already posted that solution myself a day before that post here:
en.community.dell.com/.../20215126.aspx
I have fixed it for myself and the solution and reg settings are posted for anyone to use on their 15z.

On the XPS 13, I have no idea. On the 15z, the issues are very pronounced and the pointer bounces around all over the place.

During my Windows 8 upgrade that I got when I purchased this XPS 13 in September, it is asking me to uninstall the cypress touchpad. I can't figure out how to do it. I successfully uninstalled the other programs, but this one isn't listed. I can't proceed until I uninstall it. Any suggestions? Thanks!
