XPS 13 close lid issue

Hello - I have done research but have yet to find the answer. I have a new XPS 13 I5 128GB drive 4GB ram. When I have the laptop connected to a TV, via mini display port to HDMI playing a video or whatever and close the lid the video connection shuts off. If I leave the lid slightly cracked, it stays on. I have the windows power settings set to 'do nothing' on lid close. Does anyone know the fix? Thanks

Hi Veeco,

Help me understand if the connection on the TV shuts off immediately after the lid is closed or later.

Open Power options and click "Choose when to turn off the display"

Under "Turn off the display" - select Never

Ensure "do nothing" for close the lid is set for adapter and battery.

If the issue persists, check this link and try the steps mentioned by 'yakup' as it has been verified that it works.

I have the same problem on my xps14z. The TV shuts off right away. I have checked the 'do nothing' when plugged in or on battery power but that didn't solve it. The steps mentioned by yakup made it worse (TV would take 15 secs to shut down and then the laptop would take ages to start again) so I did a system restore.
