We have a XPS 15 L521X Win7 64bit.
The integrated Webcam is not recognized by the OS. In fact the list in the device manager, does not have the "Imagining Devices" in the list.
Any suggestion on how to resolve this would be greatly appreciated.
Good work on troubleshooting. I would suggest you to update the BIOS on the computer. Please enter your service tag # on the link below, then download the BIOS required onto the system and install it.
Also, I would suggest you to run the test on Webcam on the system.
1. Open the link http://dell.to/14YjKb2
2. Select ‘Hardware’ under ‘Advanced’ tab.
3. Select ‘Camera’.
4. Click on ‘Run Diagnostics’ button.
5. Let me know if the results.
Thank you for the suggestions. I was able to download and install the update for the BIOS. That went well. But running the hardware diagnostics on the camera did not.
The webpage sits in the "Obtaining selected diagnostics". It has been sitting like this for about 30 minutes.
I have rebooted and gone back into the system twice now, but it just hangs at this point.
Thank you for the suggestions. I was able to download and update the BIOS just fine. I was able to get the hardware diagnostics going, but that hangs at the point where it is "obtaining selected diagnostics". It just sits at this point. I have stopped it and rebooted but it just hangs every time at this point.
Thank you for you suggestion. I have already tried this and it did not help at all. It's very strange that I can boot the compute in SAFE mode and be able to see the WebCam in the Devices, but not see it when booted normally. I have come to the conclusion that the WebCam is totally trashed hardware wise or that there is some Windows update that has trashed the driver. I have tried reloading the drivers from the original CD that came with the laptop, but that did not work either.
I am just about out of options.
Thank you for you assistance.
