XPS !2 (Haswell) Wont Wake From Sleep

I just bought the latest Dell XPS 12 (Haswell) and really love it. The only problem I'm having is that when I leave it in sleep mode for more than 2 hours, it wont wake from sleep: the keyboard illuminates but the screen remains black. Pressing any key will not turn on the screen. I am forced to hold the power button until the keyboard lights turn off and then turn the laptop on as usual. I'm afraid that this will wear out the power button slider. Am I doing something wrong?

Disable Intel Rapid Start

  1. Power on the system. As soon as the first logo screen appears, immediately press the F2 key to enter the BIOS.
  2. Use the ARROW KEYS to navigate to iRST.
  3. Use the ARROW KEYS to select iRST Support. Press ENTER to change it to Disabled.
  4. Exit and save changes and restart the system.

Thank you for your help. There must be a few more bugs in the Rapid Start technology that Intel has yet to track down and fix.

Didn't know what I was getting into until I started reading these Dell Forums. Just want to report that I have both these issues on recent new laptop.

  1. Wake from sleep, the keyboard lights up, but blank screen, requiring forced shutdown to recover.
Verified Intel Rapid Start is not installed in Windows and A06 BIOS has not such option.
  2. Temporary image retention/ghost burn-in issue shows up all the time.
I have latest A06 BIOS and latest video driver.

XPS 12 9Q33 with i7 4510U CPU. Intel released that CPU recently in Q2 2014. This suggests this laptop model line is still suffering from wake from sleep blank screen & image retention issues that a lot of others have reported from over 1 year ago.

I have this same issue with a Dell XPS 12 I purchased just last week. Only way to wake it from sleep is to force shutdown and restart. Also, my touchpad tends to become unresponsive and my screen sometimes gets stuck and won't rotate. Please advise with a fix.

Hello All, this solution worked for my inspiron 13 - 2 in 1.

1. Go to control Panel

2. Keyboard

3. Keyboard lock tab

4. Select never lock keyboard and touchpad

5. Apply and ok.

Hope it works for you.
