XPS 9550 Speed Shift - when will Dell enable via BIOS update?
When will Dell enable Intel Speed Shift via a BIOS update? All the BIOS update requires is requires is writing 1 to MSR 0x770!
Speed Shift was fully supported by Intel and Microsoft in 2015 (1 year ago!). It makes the CPU much more responsive (particularly in gaming and real-time tasks) and costs nothing.
In the meantime, anyone can run software manually to enable Speed Shift but you need to relaunch the software every time your computer sleeps or turns off, so that is inconvenient. But the boost in performance is worth the effort.
I have manually enabled SpeedShift via software such as ThrottleStop or just writing 1 to MSR 0x770.
Dell - can you get Speed Shift into the next BIOS revision?!?!

Would be great to finally see speed shift, it's been nearly a year now Dell surely you could have enabled it on your premium laptop line by now?
While I'm on the topic of stuff that could be done there's also the 4K screen flickering that was introduced in BIOS 1.2.10 and seems to have persisted in versions since. Fix this too please!

One user said Dell did not enable speed step on his newly issued 9360 (Kaby Lake) XPS 13.

SpeedShift may be helpful for improved battery life under light load conditions. This would be a great system to support in an updated Dell BIOS

Unfortunately, Dell still has not provided any SpeedShift support.
But...Dell released major BIOS improvements for the 9550 this month. They also implemented major thermal improvements to some new Alienware laptops this month. So Dell engineers are listening and executing...
In December, the free ThrottleStop software was updated to version 8.40, which has a few tweaks. Currently I am using ThrottleStop because it is an easy and lightweight way to enable SpeedShift.

Has Dell enabled SpeedShift in the XPS 15 (9550 or 9560) yet? Is there a reason or a timetable here?
I understand Dell enabled SpeedShift on the XPS 13 via a simple BIOS update
