XPS M1710 / Audigy 2 NX
Hi everyone,
Just a quick question that I would appreciate an opinion from the community on.
I have an XPS m1710 with the software Audigy installed. Recently I purchased Logitech z5300e 5.1 Speakers. However, I realize that this isnt a perfect solution for surround sound as there is only one physical audio jack on the system. Being the perfectionist that I am, I really want a better audio experience when playing games, etc. The surround currently sounds faded across the speakers. For example, when running the Audigy softeware, it doesnt give me the option for 5.1 speakers, only 2.1 and headphones. When I run the audio channel test in Steam games, the rear channels sound blended with the front.

Anyways, cutting to the chase, will the external Audigy 2 NX USB option improve the audio experience with surround sound, or will it be a waste of time/money? Are there any other options?
Thanks for any help.

If I were to purchase a dock for the laptop, and put a sound card in it, would i have to also purchase a monitor, etc. It would be as if i were running the laptop only as a desktop, sort of... right? Or would i be able to just Put the laptop on the dock and use it normally, with the sound card in the dock being activated when it's plugged in?
Any help is appreciated.
