XPS M1730 - Bad GPU?
Can anyone help with this video issue? The boot screens always look like the pictures attached. Sometimes it successfully starts up, sometimes it goes to a black screen after the Vista screen. The video will not show on a VGA monitor either. Any help is appreciated to determine what the problem is.
It is now showing green vertical lines when windows close. This is left when a message disappears.

Hi rmartinit,
It seems like an issue with the video card on the system, I would suggest that you run the diagnostics on the computer by following the steps mentioned in the video below and check if there is any issue with the hardware on your system.

I cannot attempt this now because the screen is black. The BIOS screen does not even show any more.

I tried this to no avail. The screen is completely dark. Would that combined with the other symptoms indicate the video card?
