XPS1330 oddly crashing...
Several times today... three days within the hour... my laptop has been crashing for unknown reasons. pink/purple pixel dots fill all over my screen and it freezes. shortly the screen goes black and when i press power button it instantly restarts. the last time it crashed it just went to blue screen saying something failed and restarted right after and asked me to load in safe mode. I have done a virus scan, adware scan, spybot search and destroy scan and it has still crashed. what may be the cause to this?

It certainly sounds like a hardware problem - probably either graphics or heat related?
Have you run the diagnostic tests?
To enable you to see what error messages say, you need to turn off 'Automatically restart on error', by doing the following:
Open Control Panel > System > Advanced.
In the 'Startup and Recovery' section, left click the 'Settings' button.
In the 'System Failure' section, unchceck 'Automatically Restart'.
Left click OK
Left click APPLY
Left click OK
Restart your system, for the changes to take effect.
The next time you experience a similar problem, you'll now get a Blue Screen Of Death (BSOD) instead of a restart.
Write down the EXACT error code, and post it here.
You should also try Googling the error code though, to see if you can get any quicker advice ;)

ok the source of the crashing appears to be the video card. should have known better as my xps 420 had a faulty video card as well when first bought it. sigh. im going to attempt to uninstall and install the video card drivers although its the same and see what happens. hopefully itll work because i dont want to contact dell for the 3rdd major time (2nd was over gift cards taking extra 4 weeks to come)
the only reason i can post this is because im running in safe mode otherwise i would crash by log in.

Could be overheating. Have a look at this thread.

I am also facing same problem . For the time being I have disabled the NVIDIA graphics card. So system is working but video are not running properly. Probably will need to change the GPU from Dell.:emotion-6:
