XPS15 Cursor & Touchpad stop working
Intermittently, cursor disappears and touchpad ceases to function. A restart does not resolve the problem. Updating the Synaptics driver from Dell downloads resolves issue for a time then it occurs again...and again. Touchscreen continues to work.

Hi Webill1938,
Welcome to the Dell Community Forum.
Please update BIOS and then the touch pad driver & check. Click on the link below, enter the service tag, click on Drivers & Downloads & select the Operating system to get drivers for your system model:

I had already downloaded and installed both the BIOS and Synaptics driver. Did not help. Lost the cursor again today, so reinstalled touchpad driver. Cursor was back, Then I shutdown (instead of closing lid). On the following cold start it is all still working. Suspect OS was not saving system changes on "sleep" shutdown. Stay tuned.

Hi Webill1938,
May I know from when you are facing this issue? Is it after any hardware or software changes? Please perfrom system restore to the date when it was working fine. Refer to the followng link for instruction:

Dell-Sujatha K,
Since my last reinstall of the Synaptics touchpad driver on May 25th, the touchpad and cursor have been working as expected. The XPS15 is very new (less than a month), I do not believe any software changes have occurred (other than the BIOS and Synoptics driver upgrade) so an OS restore does not seem appropriate at this time.

To Webill,
Since the issue is intermittent, I suggest that you restore the system to the factory installed state to overrule software issues.
