XPS15 HDMI output

Hi,

I can't seem to get the HDMI output on my XPS15 to work.

I connect the laptop to a Sony Bravia FullHD TV, but nothing happens.

I made sure that the HDMI cable was not at fault using another laptop, but it is fine.

Do I need to enable something?

Hi Steefd,

Thanks for posting.

There are a lot of variables between the laptop and the TV that you have to take into consideration.  So, considering that the TV is capable of HDMI, then first thing to do is to change the settings in the computer OS to "send" the picture through the cable over to the TV, then next change the settings in the TV to "receive" the signal from the computer and display it.

Here is a short article on how to do that.  Thanks.

Hope you find this information useful, if not, please post back so that the experts here can answer.

Regards,
Robert

I'm sorry, but this doesn't help me.

As mentioned in my original post, with another laptop it does work.

So there is no problem with the HDMI cable, HDMI port, or TV.

When connecting with the XPS15, nothing happens. The second screen is not even detected.

Not sure what's going on there, have you tried the XPS15 with a different television, monitor, or other source to see if the HDMI on the XPS15 might be having a problem?

Solved by using an other HDMI cable.

No idea why the original cable worked with my old VAIO and not the XPS15.

Glad you were able to resolve the issue.  If there's nothing further, I'll be closing my case.  Thanks for the opportunity to assist you.
