Has anyone else just gotten a call from Dell? I just got a call from them and their replacing my TB15 with a TB16.

In addition to replacing the Docking Station, they said my XP15 9550 made need a logic board replacement. I'm assuming this might be related to the Broadcomm chipset, but they said there would be more details in an upcoming email.

I spent about a week back and forth on the phone with the techs in Hyderabad (who by the way were very efficient and understandable, and seemed to be competent people who weren't just following useless interaction scripts). Eventually one of them did the remote login to my computer and changed a couple of wireless card settings (I had been requesting replacement of the Broadcomm card), which seems to have entirely fixed the TB15s monitor dropout issues on my machine.

(TB15, Dell XPS13 2016, Dell monitor hooked up via displayport, blinking all the time)

The first thing everyone should do is install Dell Support Assist and allow it to handle downloading and updating the absurd mess of drivers the dock requires. It's very efficient and easy; however it does not actually solve the display dropout issues on its own, apparently. What did solve them for me was when Dell Support fixed some wireless settings as well.

Here's what he changed in the device settings of my wireless card, according to a followup email I requested:

step 1:

Go to wireless properties turned off Bluetooth collaboration and

step 2:

from power option unchecked the option allow the computer to turn of the device.

Now, one caveat is that I have never tried to hook up high density 4k displays, or multiple displays, to the dock. So it's possible that the fixes that were done only solved the problem in my more limited usage scenario.

@GTO_Tyler Let us know if you see positive results with those changes. I have not had a single video dropout on either my TB15 or the replacement TB16 since doing the fix.

Thanks @ Mattolejack I just made those two setting changes on my XPS 15 (9550) to test from the office with my replacement TB16 that is having the same disconnect problems as the previous TB15.

I was one of the first to purchases a TB15.  Our Dell rep mention there was a recall program/exchange for the TB15 to a TB16.  Do you know how to sign up for exchange?

Dell changed 4 TB15 <->TB16, great!

Though all 4 XPS9550 need mainboard replacement to work correct with TB16. Dell is sending some technician next week!

You have to spend some time on the phone with tech support, the guys in Hyderabad. Just know how to describe the issues, and have your service tag #s available. The turnaround on the replacements is not that long once tech support approves it.

Try www.displaylink.com/.../windows the non beta. Restart a few times. Does not work? Uninstall and get the beta. Also try to get monitors that do not need adapters.

Hi! Do you plan on replacing this fan? It's quite noisy for me too, so I'm wondering if I could just replace it for a better fan... Any ideas on what will fit?
