boot vostro 5468 from m2 ssd

Hi,

i am looking to upgrade a dell vostro 5468 with a m2 ssd drive. the normal 1tb hdd will remain in place.

can i boot from the ssd on this laptop so the OS will be on m2 ssd and keep the hdd for data only?

an m2 sata ssd will probably be detected bu i want to make sure i can boot the os from there and use the hdd as data drive.

Yes you can-- be sure you purchase a SATA M.2 drive. NVMe/PCIe drives will not work in this system.

You'll need a screw to secure the drive -- drive kits generally come with them; bare drives don't.

The E54x0 systems appear to have either M.2 or 2.5" - not both.  There's a mounting bracket required for M.2 that fits in the 2.5" bay -- and likely won't be present in the system if you order it with a 2.5" drive.

Can you explain why NVM will not work?
