dell insiron n5110 i7 adapter upgrade
hello,
i have dell inspiron n5110 i7 with a power adapter of 130w,
the adapter is getting very hot and i plan to replace it,
is there a power adapter greater than 130w(e.g 230w) that will fit with the laptop?
thanks.

There are higher wattage adapters, yes -- however, you might want to see if the adapter heats up less with the battery removed from the system. If so, it may be you need a new battery - not a new adapter.

It could be the adapter -- or the DC jack or mainboard. First try a new OEM Dell adapter (NOT a third party unit) -- if that doesn't solve the problem, replace the DC jack next

And if that doesn't solve it, replace the mainboard.

thank you for your answer,
however, if i unplug the adapter from the laptop while it is still in the electrical socket, and i plug it back in the laptop, i receive the msg " adapter cannot be determined", so i need to shut down the laptop, unplug the adapter from the electrical socket for about 1 min, then plug back and start for msg to go away,
is it normal for any adapter or is the adapter faulty?
