Hello, I`m new here and I`m hoping to get help.
I have Latitude e6440 with bios ver a06
problem is that when I press power button it waits for about 30 seconds to show logo and later it boots normally. I changed in POST behavior fastboot to minimum but problem still the same.
I wanted to upgrade bios to newer version but when laptop reboots to load bios nothing happens. I tried to upgrade from usb stick but the result is the same.
tried all bios versions
You are way behind in BIOS version, Dell doesn't even list AO6 BIOS version in your Product Support page anymore. What version of windows is on the system ? Windows 10, 8.1 or 7 ?
The system is WIndows 7 but it boots very nice ( I`ve installed SSD with fresh system). Problem begins when I press power button... the screen stays black for 30 seconds then dell logo appears and later everything is nornal.
Bios version shows A06 with embedded controller A07
You disable some of the unnecessary programs in your Startup? If no, please follow steps below:
1. Please click on the Start button, type msconfig into the Search box and then click Enter
In Startup, you can disable / uncheck any unnecessary programs running while the system is booting up. I'd suggest you uncheck any Anti-virus software, external drive, Printer, Scanner, etc.
sorry but I`m saying this 3rd time ... everything is ok with the system ... let`s say that I don`t have a hard drive and I just want to get in to the bios ....
the computer stays black for a long time then after 30s i can enter bios
Hopefully one of the Dell reps on this forum see the thread and be a help to you. If no one response, I'd suggest you post the same question on the Microsoft Community Forum in the link below.
