i7 throttling, but just QUADS or DUALS as well?
Hi :emotion-1: my first question here, I think it isn't stupid.
Question is about
Intel Core i7 620M Arrandale
from Alienware M15x
Because after 3days having XPS 1645 with i7 720M I send it back and think take it M15x with i5 540M or i7 620M.

I belive the i5 is a quad core as well, just with less power as the i7 though i'm not 100 percent. Regardless, a lot of companies throttle their systems to maintain optimum cooling and performance in laptops.. the Alienware systems were supposed to be overclockable and/or allow for total control of the guts of the unit, but I wouldn't be surprised if dell capped the i5 systems as well.

thanks for help, but I'm sure both i5 540M and i7 620M are DUAL CORES, they have 4 threads (2 for each core), but certainly 2 cores
but whether i7 DUAL CORE throttle like i7 QUAD CORE?
because if yes, I will choose i5 540M instead i7 620M

I dunno, its getting mroe and more confusing anymore lol.. But as far as I have read, they do throttle the system. I think its in one of Dell's blogs where i got it from.
