iNSPIRON 1525
After a few minutes on the laptop it shuts down unexpectedly I just replaced the battery has windows vista It seems hot could automatically shut down if getting hot should you hear the fan running?

If the system overheats, it can indeed shut down. If you've never cleaned the fan assembly, it's likely clogged with dust -- unplug the system, remove the battery and try a good vacuum cleaner around the air vents at the bottom and/or side of the system. If that doesn't help, it may be time for a more thorough cleaning, which would mean opening up the system to thoroughly clean the heatsink assembly -- service manual:
