inspiron 1501 white screen at start up

If the external monitor shows a good image, the display needs an electronic repair, which an LCD specialist can do for $150 or so.  If the external monitor is the same as the internal, the mainboard needs to be replaced.

This system is not nVidia-based.

What do you mean by this?

Does it go away once windows loads?

Have you an nvidia video card?

If the screen does not recover from this state after boot up /windows loaded might well be a burnt out/dying video card/chip.

Try and connect you laptop to an external monitor to see if the problem still present..

Failing the above screen could all be faulty..

It does not go away, windows does not load.

I will check to see if I have an nvidia card, I got the standard notebook directly from Dell with an AMD 64 ATHLON X2 CHIP.  SO, IF IT COMES WITH THE SYSTEM I HAVE IT,

IF IT DOESN'T COME WITH THE STANDARD SYSTEM I DON'T HAVE THE NVIDIA CARD.

I WILL TRY TO CONNECT TO ANOTHER MONITOR AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS.

The laptop screen is solid white, you can not see anything, anytime.

I will have to hook up to an external monitor and see what I can see.

I hooked it up to an external monitor and no images came at all, no images when I started the Laptop on the external monitor.
