inspiron 1520 not charging properly
hey folks,
when I put my inspiron 1520 on charge, the blue battery light blinks on for
a couple of seconds, then goes off again for about 5 seconds, but it is very
regular and the same pattern every time.
This just repeats itself over and over and it means that it takes forever to charge up.
24hrs charging still leaves it under 10% battery life.
The charger is only about a month old and seems to be fine - the light stays on
and it is still making noise all of the time, so I don't think that it is that only charging
for short periods.
Someone told me the BIOS might be at fault, but i took out the cmos battery and put
it back in but this didn't help.
Any ideas?

No, that sounds much more like a faulty system board.

Next would be a new battery - and if the problem continues, you'll need a mainboard repair or replacement.

Thanks for the quick reply :)
The laptop doesn't work at all with the battery taken out but the charger still in
when it would normally run fine. Does this still indicate a problem with the battery?
cheers
