inspiron 5150 no internal display

Hello,i have a inspiron 5150,the display worked the last time I used it. But it has been sitting 4 awhile and when I powered it on I had no display,so I hooked up an external monitor hit the fn-f8 an it works just fine.So can anyone tell me what might be the problem? I have read alot of forums on here but none of the display issues I read about we're 5150 models,Please HELP I don't want to just start buying parts and replacing them. Thanks Justin:emotion-4:

Most likely it's the backlight bulb;  less likely, the inverter.  The bulb can be replaced for about $100 by an LCD repair specialist.  It's NOT  a job for a novice.

Ok, So onr more thing that i'am not understanding is that it was working but i'am told that supposededly it it was working fine and then dell told her that it needed a new hard drive. Ok so she put it in a box and ordered a new hard drive,so she asked me if I would put it in 4 her. I take go 2 replace the hard drive she ordered the wrong one. So I decided 2 fire it up with the old hard drive, and no display, just a light blue screen. Ok so hooked up an external monitor and it works fine except that I can't get into bois to check anything. Shhhhuueee with all that said, inverter or backlight bulb????? Thanks so much 4 ur input.:emotion-4:
