inspiron 6000 touch pad not working after fix from viruses

I can't get my touch pad to work.  I have searched all options on my computer to turn it on, and I have researched the Internet to find the solution.  I can't get my mouse touch pad to scroll like it did prior to it "crashing" on me and having to go to the computer store to get fixed.  Does anyone know how I Can fix this?
