inspiron 7778

my 7778 has an empty m.2 ssd slot, I'm wondering what type of m.2 ssd is compatable. The bios says its a sata slot, so I'm guessing not pcie, but there seem to be different m.2 ssd form factors, what do I need?

MSATA versions have two notches -- the PCIe versions have one.  Did you enable the drive in the system setup screen?  (F2 at powerup)

Its a standard 22 mm width - looks like the 80 mm or shorter cards will fit.

I tried one from an HP, sata 22mm x80mm but it had two notches on it, it fit but was not recognized  as even there. Does it matter if it has one Notch or two?

A shorty (42mm) worked fine in mine I just made sure it was held down with a bit of e-tape since the short ones cannot use  the screw.  www.amazon.com/.../

Hi,

its been a while, but have just got my new Inspiron (7778).

@Neekofab: Does the stated 256GB-SSD really work in your 7778? Was in contact with the support and they said only M.2 mSATA 128GB models are supported. Would be really nice as I definitelly need a primary SSD bigger than 128GB. Someone have had experience with other/bigger n.2 SSDs in the 7778?
