inspiron duo and duoStage
there is a way to have duostage run when in tablet mode. duostage is slow. I found another ui and would like to run that instead of duostage when in tablet mode. is this possible?

I recently sent my Duo back for repair and the tech reinstalled OS .. when i tried to install duo stage no Apps or icons show up when i fold my LP
Dell tech i snot helping to fix this as they do not know how to ...Any help here .. I get message " dell duo configration file could not be found"

Yes, you can disable it, and even edit the apps it has. - Just curious as to what UI you would replace the stage with?
To remove DuoStage from startup, simply remove it from Startup folder and the Registry key HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
You can still launch it manually if you so desire, even if removed, it just wont autolaunch when you enter tablet mode

How do we edit the apps contained in Duo Stage?
I don't see anything about it in the application or any documentation anywhere!

Yeah that is my next step, just got the Duo from UPS yesterday and trying to figure stuff out, these are going to be for our Board members and we are trying to make it as easy as possible, i have noticed that it takes alot of processor power to run the DuoStage Application.
UPDATE: changing the white background to black makes the program force the transparency to apply and look very professional!

You can Edit and Add Apps by editing the XML file found at: C:\ProgramData\Dell\duo Stage\ apps_list.xml you cannot duplicate and application i have learned to you cant have two links to IExplorer.exe... but you can edit the directories and paths to new applications make sure to add an icon into the icon folder and name it correctly, here .PNG files work best.
Here is an example of my XML script to add an icon for OpenOffice I am going to move the image into Photoshop and make is a transparent background to make it look nice. i just copied the Internet explorer link and went from there editing and replacing text. Right Click the XML and open with Notepad to edit
WARNING: Knowledge of programming XML is necessary, also make sure to back up the file before editing just in case you mess it up. you can also just copy and paste mine if you mess it up, but it has open office...

That is exactly what I found, however I went one step further and removed all the foreign language references in the XML file to make it a bit easier to navigate.
Good idea on using Photoshop to make the icon look more professional.
Personally no longer use the Stage software as its rather system taxing for just an overlay, but the Clock and Photo app that work with the Dock are quite nice

I'm using Mirabytes FrontFace.
I'm able to remove the stage from start up but you know how you flip the duo into tablet mode and it will run the stageui? instead of that when you flip it into tablet mode I want my UI to open. I like having the idea of the touch UI autolaunch in tablet mode I just want the UI I'm using to launch in tablet mode rather than the stage UI. I tried looking everywhere in the registry if there is some setting that the PC knows when it goes into tablet mode and if it does go into tablet mode run my UI program instead of the stage UI.

My previous path used / in the path and it should be \ as the XML is using absolutes and not implied pathing.

As noted above you will need to edit the apps_list.xml file located in C:\Program Files\Dell directory
Search out the string below
%PROGRAMFILES%/Internet Explorer/
Using Chrome as the default install your entry will look like the following
C:/Users/yournamehere/AppData/Local/Google/Chrome/Application/
I would just leave the default picture intact as its suitable, but you may also create or locate a suitable PNG file with the Chrome logo and edit the line below the 2 above or simply place it in the directory and name it the same as the target in the XML.
