Welcome to the forums :emotion-21:
What model laptop? What OS/version are you using - i.e. Vista Home Premium 32bit or whatever?
And why is it unsuccessful? What does the error message say - specifically?
Have you ever been connected to the internet using the laptop, or are you trying for the first time?
What method are you using to connect - i.e. a wired or wireless router?
Have you tried installing/updating the network drivers, and the drivers for whatever wireless card you have?
As you can see... you need to provide a lot more information, than simply telling us attempts to connect to the internet "won't work"/were "unsuccessful".
The more info you provide... the less questions we need to ask, and the quicker you get suggestions on what to try to fix the problem(s) :emotion-5:
