laptop display coming a part

I am currently working from my Inspiron 5558 Signature Edition laptop.

When I close the laptop, the back begins to separate from the front, the actual display monitor.

This is a problem that showed up five months after I purchased the laptop in November of 2015. I have had the laptop worked on in a local shop twice. The fixes have been temporary. The second time the shop owner said he would have preferred to replace the part, I forget what he called it, but said he could not find the part.

I would appreciate any suggestions.

Seems like the LCD back cover & hinge assembly will require a replacement.



Did you report the issue to Dell when you first saw this?



Has the computer been dropped?



This more likely is not covered under basic hardware warranty.



If the system is under warranty & if you have a complete care warranty the parts will be replaced at no cost.  If the warranty has expired, you will need to speak to the out of warranty team to get the hinge assemble & LCD back cover replaced.
